Vueling , a company belonging to the IAG group, will explore the technological capacity of NFTs, together with the Valencian start-up Criptan, certified by the Bank of Spain, to offer its passengers the possibility of paying for their tickets with cryptocurrencies . To guarantee this service, the airline will have UATP technology, the global payment network for the airline industry.
Vueling and Criptan are currently working on researching strategic applications of blockchain technology and NFTs to provide their customers with innovative solutions and improve their user experience through digital tools.
“Thanks to this alliance, Vueling once again reaffirms its position as a digital airline and will become the first low-cost airline in Europe to accept cryptocurrencies as a payment alternative”, point out the spokespersons for the airline based at Barcelona Airport- The Prat. This payment option will be available from the second half of 2023 for individuals, through the Vueling website.
